Delia was is twin sister of Mary Margaret, the oldest daughters of Thomas Moroney and Catherine Conole. Baptize 3 April 1879 at St. Joseph's R.C.. Church, Miltown Malbay, Co. Clare, Ireland, her sponsors were Ellen Hayes and Bridget Donnellan. Bridget was better known as Delia to her family and friends.  Delia emigrated to the United States 1898.  She was naturalized under her husband because she could not prove her entry date into the United States because the ships papers were destroyed. Delia married 10 November 1910 to Cuthbert W. Brogan, formerly of Scotland.  He died on 12 November 1918 in Jersey City, NJ leaving his wife, Delia with two young daughters and another on the way.  Cuthbert W Brogan was listed as working as a chauffeur and living at 245 Central Avenue, Jersey City, NJ.  He was buried in Holy Name Cemetery in Block E?F, Section A, Grave 103. The 14th. Census of the United States 1920 shows the family living at 245 Central Ave, Jersey City. All through the children’s grammar school years they lived on Central avenue and attended St. Nicholas Church and school on Ferry Street.  This was in the 12th ward of Jersey City.  Delia was listed as the head of household, widowed.  The year of immigration was listed as 1898.  If this is true she would have been the first of the Moroney children to immigrate.  In 1920 she was not yet naturalized and still listed as an alien. Living with her in a four family home were her three daughters, Elizabeth 4 years and 3 months, Eleanor 2 years 9 months, and Mary 3 months.  Also living with her were three brother-in-laws.  They were all born in Scotland and immigrated to the United States in 1888.  John J. Brogan 53 years old worked as an elevator conductor in a machine shop.  Alexander, 51 years old worked as a porter and James W. 49 years old worked as a printer. After the children went to grammar school they moved to 86 Sherman Avenue until the youngest, Mary graduated from Holy Family High School in Union City, NJ.  Eleanor also graduated from Holy Family one year before Mary.  Betty went to St. Joseph's High School 19th Street, Union City, NJ. After the children were out of high school Delia and the girls moved to 27 Gay Street, Journal Square, NJ.
When Michael Moroney died in a car accident in 1932 Molly Moroney O'Brien and her sisters  and brother went the wake in Elmsford, NY.  When she returned to Buffalo she brought her niece Elizabeth (Betty) Brogan home for part of the summer.  John S. O'Brien remembers her staying at his house during this time and everyone having a good time. The next time John S. O'Brien remembers having contact with his Aunt Delia's family is in 1937 when he went down by train to New Jersey at the request of his mother to visit Delia who was seriously ill.  John was met at the train station by Betty Brogan and brought to the Brogan home to stay.  This was the first time he met his mother’s twin sister.  Delia was confined to the bed at this time and John was amazed at the likeness between Delia and his mother. Delia died on April 6 1938 and the principal cause of death was syncope from cardiac disease.  She was buried along side her husband at Holy Name Cemetery on 8 April 1938.  The informant on the death record was Miss Elizabeth Brogan. Delia raised her three children with the help of her brother-in-laws.  After the children were growing up her family tried to get her to go back to Ireland to visit her mother.  Delia would never go because she said she was sick on the boat from the minute she put her foot down.  The time that Delia went to the wake in Elmsford, NY for the death of her brother Mickey Moroney she met her sister, Jane for the first time I her life.

Bridget (Delia) Moroney and Cuthbert Wood Brogan had the following children:
